Short Film AVPA Winner 2011

This year has been amazing year. So many great this have happened not only to us but for our clients. Winning this entry is somewhat a bitter-sweet victory as the story itself is tinged with sadness. My greatest thanks to the family who allowed us to come into their lives to create this magical piece.

“Once upon a time, a little boy came into the world with a beautiful smile that lit up the world.

This is a true life story of a little boy who at 6 months of age was diagnosed with leukemia. His battle endured for some time and in the new year of 2011 things were looking promising. Life should be lived to the fullest. Life is unpredictable – it may not be fair and curve balls can get thrown out of nowhere.

As we filmed this family, the appreciation of living life and enjoying the simple things was something that often I know many including ourselves, take for granted. Vaughan and his family are reminders to enjoy every second that is before us – life is too precious not to.

My sincere gratitude to Ffyona & Patrick from pass-the-parcel for offering their talents and making a day even more beautiful. Thank you also to Myrooren Wimalendra from the Royal Children’s hospital for giving up his time to chat with us. And above all, thank you to the family of Vaughan for allowing us to share their journey and re-tell their story.”

Wedding Video Melbourne // David & Rose ~ Same Day Edit

David & Rose are one fun couple.
When we first met them last year, while talking about their journey together, Rose began to cry & laugh almost simultaneously…crying with the joy of becoming David’s wife & giggling because that’s her nature.

We knew that this couple had something amazing together. During their lifestory shoot, David was so caring and tender with Rose, in a way that was romantic and chivalrous. We travelled along the Calder Hwy to Mount Macedon, the two of them riding their bikes – David always behind to make sure Rose was safe.

On their wedding day, their bubbly personalty that we also came to enjoy shone through and made for some fun moments. Starting with games and finishing the night at the Manningham Function Centre Doncaster, we had the privilege to again work with the talented Andrew Noble & accompanied by Kiet Luu as our support cinematographer.

Melbourne Wedding Video // Steven & Jimmie

Our couples like to have fun :)
We met Steven & Jimmie early 2011 and hit it off straight away. I love listening to how people met and share the fun times that brought them together. From this, Jimmie was keen to create a love story that would be shown at the reception…oh how fun it was to spend a full day interviewing and shooting with them.

But this is not their love story – this is their wedding highlight. Keeping in true fashion, our amazing couple made our day super fun.

I’m not giving their wedding story away…you’ll have to watch it.

Melbourne Wedding Video // Francesco & Elianne ~ Feature Film

It’s always wonderful to meet a couple who are so in love – it gives me goose bumps each time. Watching Frank & Elianne as they shared their wedding day with their family & friends, I could see that their love brought so many tears of happiness.

I often think of what effects me most about a couple and for this new family, I feel it’s the innocence of love. This will be one of the things I will remember most about Frank & Elianne.

Francesco & Elianne’s feature film compliments their Same Day Edit. I would have to say that Frank & Elianne’s wedding was one of the most filled receptions that we have been part of. So many things were planned from the dance troupes to our presentation…it sure kept the room buzzing. It was great to work with one of our very good friend’s & talented colleagues, Peter Szilveszter to produce this fun filled feature film.

Melbourne Wedding Video // Ben & Claire ~ Highlight

We have some super awesome couples who make filming fun. This was Ben & Claire.

Having an all in one location was brilliant and it sure cut out the normal travel time that we have on a wedding day. Dean joined Ben and his groomsman as they went off to have a cut-throat shave. It’s sounds pretty severe and when Dean came back, he was telling me how tricky it was to get between the razor and the barber…lol, but he did :)

This clip brings a smile to my face…loads of fun, character, joy & radiant love.
A great day with a great couple and a cool photographer

Melbourne Wedding Video // Anujan & Narayani ~ Feature Film

The Feature Film of Anujan & Narayani.

What an amazing event filled with a beautiful and traditional Hindu wedding ceremony at the Shri Shiva Vishnu Temple in Carrum Downs Melbourne.

Their story began many years ago when they first met at Nara’s home. As both were living in different locations, distance divided them for sometime. Their love however endured and brought them together to celebrate their unity.

A true romance with a beautiful couple – enjoy the feature film of Narayani & Anujan

Melbourne Wedding Video // Luke & Beth ~ Highlight

Beth wanted a fairy tale wedding and Luke granted her wish. It was easy to do in the beautiful settings of the Dandenong ranges. The gorgeous landscape of Tatra gardens & the intimate chapel was the sacred place to their marriage.

Yes, it rained but this didn’t stop our amazing couple having an amazing day. And when you look at the stunning scenery and listen to the beautiful words that were shared during the day, all other elements are a glimmer of a magnificent day.

So with our very good friend Andrew Noble at the mast for photos, we continued on our natural trail of making their memories come to life.

Melbourne Wedding Video // Steven & Andi ~ Feature Film

It’s always loads of fun to capture weddings that are full of culture. Steven, being from Macedonian background, celebrated in true culture. Andi looked stunning in one of the most elegant gowns I’ve seen. Yes, the day was filled with fun, class and loads of dancing.

Starting of in coast of Geelong, we celebrated their ceremony in a historic church – St Mary’s Basilica. We then headed back into Melbourne pier and finally to the Brighton International for the reception. Combining the talents of Shireen Hammond from Field of Vision, we had an amazing day and captured some beautiful moments.

Enjoy sharing this couple’s happiness & celebration of their love.

Exposed Down Under: Australian Event Filmmaking Arrives

Default

When you think of robust wedding video industries, the Philippines comes to mind, Canada and the U.S. too. But Australia? Not if this article had appeared in EventDV’s early years, say, in 2004 or 2005. Up until then, wedding videographers in the Antipodes had done for their industry’s reputation what Darwin had done for creationism. But as our trade magazine was taking shape, so too was the wedding and event video industry Down Under.

The Aussies have scrunched their industry’s evolution into the blink of an eye, leaving videographers stateside blushing. Sure, video producers in the U.S. have advanced by leaps and bounds, outgrowing the proverbial sweatsuit in favor of rock-star duds. Wedding videos have gone from totally cheap to totally chic. And they morphed into films along the way.

In an easy parallel (albeit a decade later, and advancing in double-time), the wedding filmmaking industry in Australia is on the fast track to a similar notoriety. Along for the ride-no, in the (right-side) driver’s seat-are Aussies Peter Szilveszter of Living Lens, Rochelle Morris of Sauvignon Media Creations, Dave Cowling of D ‘n’ M Films, Susanto (Santo) Widjaja of Paper Cranes Productions, and Abraham Joffe of Untitled Film Works.

Ante & Rowena ~ Feature Film

I have been thinking about what I could compose for Ante & Rowena’s feature film and somtimes I think simple is best. As I watch this clip I know how important the connections that these two people have with the people around them. They have grown up with their friends – and their friends have grown to be like their family.

One of our very distinct characteristics of our company is finding what makes our clients different. With Ante & Rowena we have a blending of two different cultures – Croatian & Chinese. Like anything in life, the scales need to be balanced and with their wedding day, balance was definitely there. With the candid and fun nature of the bridal party there was joy, tears & laughter.

I welcome you to share our feature film of Ante & Rowena
